During exhaust braking, these vanes operate through a wide range of motion while exposed to high heat and pressure. Over time, the repeated movement of the vanes under exhaust braking conditions can contribute to increased wear within the turbocharger. By using the Sentinel Exhaust Brake instead of the exhaust-braking function built into the turbo, exhaust braking duties are moved outside of the turbocharger.
